The Audit
What We Audit
A manual review of your site — page by page, element by element — against WCAG 2.1 AA. Here is exactly what a human auditor tests and the criteria we check against.
Pages and elements we cover
A standard audit covers up to 10 pages. We test each one with a keyboard, a screen reader, and a structured protocol — the way a plaintiff’s tester would.
Homepage
The most-tested page in any demand letter. Navigation, landmarks, heading structure, and the primary calls to action.
Contact & booking pages
Contact forms, appointment scheduling, and multi-step flows — where medical and law-firm sites most often fail.
Product & service pages
Content structure, images, links, and any interactive product elements.
Checkout & carts
The full purchase flow tested with a keyboard and screen reader, start to finish.
PDFs & documents
Intake forms, menus, and downloadable documents checked for readable structure and tagging.
Forms
Labels, error handling, required-field messaging, and keyboard operability on every input.
Navigation
Menus, skip links, focus order, and keyboard traps across the site.
Interactive elements
Modals, carousels, dropdowns, accordions, and widgets that scanners routinely miss.
WCAG 2.1 AA criteria we check
WCAG 2.1 is organized under four principles — Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust. We work through the Level A and AA success criteria under each, and record a pass or fail for every tested element.
Perceivable
- Text alternatives for images
- Captions and media alternatives
- Adaptable, well-structured content
- Color contrast (1.4.3) and use of color
- Text resize and reflow
Operable
- Keyboard operability, no keyboard traps
- Enough time and pause/stop controls
- No content that risks seizures
- Bypass blocks, page titles, focus order
- Link purpose and multiple ways to navigate
Understandable
- Language of page set correctly
- Predictable navigation and identification
- Input assistance: labels, instructions, error identification and suggestion
Robust
- Valid, parseable markup
- Name, role, value for custom controls
- Status messages exposed to assistive technology
We test against the WCAG 2.1 AA technical criteria. This is a technical review, not a legal determination about the ADA or any statute — see the disclaimer below.
